Graco Solano Convertible Crib

Graco Solano Convertible Crib

One of the handiest types of cribs to have is a convertible crib.  Most of us have seen a traditional crib.  It has an adjustable mattress, the sides may be adjustable and often the whole unit is on wheels.  It is functional and will serve you and your child well until the child gets bigger and older.  Then you are faced with the need to buy another type of bed, on that your child will fit into.

Learn more about convertible cribs.

A convertible crib can eliminate the need to buy another bed when your child outgrows a basic crib.  Most convertible cribs are considered 4 in 1 cribs.  They start as a crib,  then can be made into a toddler bed by removing one side of slats.  The next step is a day bed, followed by the option of converting the unit into a full bed.

A good example of a versatile 4 in 1 convertible bed is the Solano by Graco.  This crib has a three position setting for the mattress, making it easy to  have the mattress set at the safest and most convenient height.  You will start with the mattress set at the highest level, there is no danger of the baby crawling out of the crib for the first few months.  As your child gets older you can lower the mattress, making the side railings higher and more difficult for the infant to climb out of the crib.

Convert The Crib To A Toddler Bed

The next conversion will be to a toddler bed.  Once your child is able to get in and out of bed by themselves you can set up the toddler bed.  The long side rail section is removed, the mattress is set at the lowest position and your child has their own bed.  Setting up the day bed function is just as easy.

Convertible Crib Day Bed Option

The fourth and last option with this unit is creating a full size bed.  You will need to get a larger mattress and frame but you can use most of the original structure to create a comfortable full sized bed for your quickly growing child.  No need to buy 4 different beds and no need to have your child become too large for the crib.  A convertible set will expand as your child grows.

Graco Solano Convertible Crib

While there are many convertible cribs on the market, we recommend the Graco Solano model for price, quality and flexibility.  The Graco Solano 4-in-1 Convertible Crib with Drawer is JPMA certified and is compliant with all CPSC and ASTM safety standards, meaning that it meets all of the requirements put out to protect your child.

One excellent feature of this crib is the drawer at the bottom of the unit.  No one ever has enough drawer space.  Without taking up any additional room in the nursery this unit adds a wide drawer under the mattress.  What a great feature!

This convertible crib is made from wood and is stained with a deep espresso brown finish.  The conversion from one style of bed to another is very easy and the instructions were clear and simple to follow.  One drawback occurs during the conversion to a full size bed.  You have to purchase a new mattress and frame, both of which are easy to find.

You are responsible for the safety of your child and safety starts with the crib.  However, after you have addressed the safety issue you will want to have some fun buying furniture for the nursery.  This convertible crib is an attractive, well made crib-bed combination that will be part of your child’s bedroom for a long time.
